Mark Alan Fogle passed away November 24th, 2025, after a decade long courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Mark was born in Aurora, MO. to J.W. “Jerry” and Dorothy Fogle on July 21,1952. He graduated from Aurora High School in 1971 and from Missouri State University in 1975 with a degree in Business Management and in 1987 earned a degree in Computer Information Systems. He spent a career with Wal-Mart, helping to open new stores in Maine and New Hampshire among other regions, retiring from the company after serving in management at his final store in Moberly, MO. On November 8th, 1985, he married Phyllis Bills, who lovingly followed him across the country with his career moves. After retirement, they moved to Springfield in 2021 to be closer to family.
Some of Mark’s proudest achievements came from his commitment to Boy Scouts of America. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout and became Scoutmaster for Troop 48 in his hometown of Aurora. He led the troop for several years before his career took him elsewhere but never lost his devotion to Scouting. Many of his former troop members shared with Mark over the years the impact his leadership and guidance meant to their success in life. He modeled the Scouting pledge: On my honor, I will do my best to do my duty to God and My country and to obey the Scout Law; to help other people at all times; to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight. In retirement, Mark enjoyed gardening and working in the yard. He had the same passion for a neat and tidy lawn as he did for the stores he managed.
Mark is survived by Phyllis, his wife of 40 years, along with his older brother David of Basking Ridge, NJ, his younger brother Brian (Renee) of Springfield, MO and his brother-in-law Roger (Karen) Bills of Springfield, MO. Additional survivors include numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family would like to especially thank the caregivers at Cox Health, Cedarhurst, and Seasons Hospice for their care and support over the past two months.
A visitation will be held at Greenlawn North Funeral Home in Springfield at Noon on Monday, December 1st with funeral services at 1 pm. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be sent to Boy Scouts Troop #48, % Aurora United Methodist Church, 1211 South Carnation, Aurora MO 65605.
