Mark Steven Butcher, age 69, passed away peacefully at his home on June 8, 2026. Though he was born in Abilene, Texas, Mark spent the majority of his life making memories in Springfield, Missouri.
From a young age, Mark learned the value of hard work, starting out washing windows alongside his father. He later dedicated many years of service to Zenith in Springfield and eventually retired from the Greene County Highway Department after 24 proud years of dedication.
Beyond his career, the true passion of Mark’s life was music. As a talented drummer, he brought energy and rhythm to the local music scene, frequently playing at Wild Bill’s and the Hitching Post, as well as sharing his talents playing Gospel music. Mark was also a committed member of the community, actively involved with the Shrine and the University Lodge 683.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marjorie Groen Butcher; his daughter, Angela Shelton; and grandchildren, Dusty and Benjy. He is also survived by his children, Christina Crawford and her husband Robert, and Michelle Adams and her husband Daniel; his grandchildren, Seth Adams and his fiancé Lily Kostecki, and Brittany Adams and her fiancé Shawn Sell; and his cherished great-grandchildren, Ada and Ian Sell. He leaves behind his sister, Debbie Clifton, and her grandchildren, Scott and Mike Collier.
Mark’s love and rhythm will be deeply missed by all who knew him. As his family holds him close in their hearts, they remember the promise:
“Love you Yesterday, Love you today, and I will Love you Forever.”
