Ut & Family left a message on January 31, 2024:
The Person I Admire My name is Ut Nguyen. I left Vietnam in 1978 after the Vietnam War ended. When I lived in the camps in Malaysia in the aftermath. Martha Templeton and her husband, Gene, sponsored my father and me to the United States. Martha was a person that I admired the most. She was a warm and caring soul. Martha was always on top of things for her family, freely giving us love and support. She and her five children embraced me as another son to the family. That's why I call her mom. My mom was a wise person. She could handle anything that we couldn't do. She cared for, taught, assisted, cooked, and contributed a lot to me as a mother. A truly exceptional person. She has done things for me that I cannot repay her. The last thing I want to say is, "Mom, I love you!" I am grateful to have you in my life.

I often visited the Riksha with my mom, who used to work downtown. It was a favorite of ours. Some of my family were/are members of Hamlin, Rossalee and Harold Futrell (aunt and uncle), Belinda Wingo (cousin), and likely new Martha. I work with Julie at MSU, and send my deepest condolences to her and the entire family. What a sweet history Martha had and a large family who likely cherished her dearly. Prayers for your family during this difficult time.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.
