Mary Alice Wheeler was born August 9, 1921 to Paul Hill and Alice Justis, the oldest of five children. She passed to her heavenly home on February 21, 2013 at her home in Ravenwood Assisted Living surrounded by family.
She married Don B. Wheeler on August 17, 1941 and to this union four children were born, Judy Patterson, Kathy (David) Phelps, Don R. (Kathi) Wheeler, and Mark Wheeler. She has eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Mary was a charter member of St. Luke United Methodist church where she was a pianist for over 30 years. She was also active in UMW and was also very involved in other church activities.
Along with her husband, Don, and daughter Kathy and son-in-law David they started Family Flowers Greenhouses in 1985, which still thrives today. Later, they also helped their two sons in establishing greenhouse businesses.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Don in 1994 after 53 years of marriage, her parents, sister Norma Sorrell, and brothers Paul, John, and Bob Justis.
Mary was very proud of her family and her faith in God. She always put both first in her life. She will be remembered by all her family and multitudes of friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Greenlawn Funeral Home East. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday, February 25, 2013 in the funeral home.
The family would like to thank the management and staff at Ravenwood for the love and personal care they gave to our mother during her stay there. She truly considered it her home.
