Mary Ann Cantwell, 79, of Republic, MO passed away Monday, February 22 at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, MO after a short illness.
Services will be at Greenlawn North in Springfield with visitation on Friday, February 26th 5-7 pm. Funeral will also be at Greenlawn North on Saturday, February 27th at 10 am with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Father Thomas Reidy of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic church will be officiating.
Mary Ann was born in Springfield to Bernard and Mary Murphy Logue on March 21, 1936. She attended St. Agnes School and High School. Later in life she attended Vo-Tech to obtain her LPN degree. After retiring from her nursing career, Mary Ann obtained her real estate license & continued working in that arena until her retirement. Mary Ann worked hard and did the best she could to raise her 5 children. She also volunteered for and served on the board for the Springfield Victim’s Center. She enjoyed a variety of activities with her husband, Ernest, including traveling, the Model T club, Branson Shows, Daniel O’Donnell show, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was very proud of her Irish Catholic heritage. Her trip to Ireland with a Logue family reunion to explore their heritage was one of the highlights of her life.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, step mother Eva Logue, brother Jim Logue and son John Hopkins.
She is survived by her husband Ernest Cantwell, 4 of her 5 children – Harry Hopkins, Joe (Delia) Hopkins, Susan Hopkins, Sandy (Rick) Cantwell, and daughter in law Jill Hopkins Siver, her 14 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, Jack Logue, and Mike (Sandy) Logue, and her 3 step children -David Cantwell, Barbara Hubacheck, Jen Cordner and their families.
