Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Hood Mainor,76 entered the arms of Jesus June 4,2022 at the home of her brother following a brief illness. She was born May 26, 1946, to Edd and Leila Hood, longtime residents of Nixa, Mo.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by one son Scott Mainor of Springfield. Daughter-in-law, Michelle Mainor, Grandson Andrew and family, Granddaughter Alyssa and family. She leaves behind two brothers: Eddie and Nila Hood of Springfield, and Denzil and Robin Hood of Springdale, AR. Several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and a best friend of over forty years Kathy Shortt, and a host of other friends and family.

At the time of her death Mary was employed as a communication operator at Cox Medical Center in Springfield, Mo.

A private family service will be held at a later date, and at Mary’s request, contributions may be made to Fair Haven Children’s Home in Strafford, Mo or to St. Jude’s Children’s hospital.

The Hood family would like to thank the nurses at Cox Hospice services and the family that helped during Mary’s short illness.
