Mary Eleanor Sleeth
Mary Eleanor Sleeth, 82, Houston, Texas, formerly of Springfield, passed away Friday at 5 a.m. in Houston Hospice, Texas, following a lengthy illness. An area resident for most of her life, she had been living in Houston for about a year and a half with her son and daughter-in-law. She was born on December 27, 1926, in Dinuba, Calif., to Mark and Dicie (Hicks) Gray. Mary was a retired data entry clerk for the Dayco Corporation, after many years of service. She was a founding member of the Orchard Crest Baptist Church. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, of over 50 years, Thomas Sleeth in 2004. They were married July 3, 1946. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Gray. Survivors include her son and his wife, Clifford and Karen Sleeth; two grandchildren, Gaylee Koehler and Corey Sleeth; and three great-grandchildren, Malcolm, Maura and Thomas Koehler; and a sister, Ruth White. Funeral Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in Orchard Crest Baptist Church, with burial to follow in Missouri Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. in Greenlawn Funeral Home North.
