Mary Elizabeth Everest, age 82 of Springfield, Mo, left this world peacefully at 1:30 pm on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born on October 31, 1931 outside Fair Grove, Missouri, she was the daughter of the late John and Lydia Williams.
Elizabeth was very active in the education of her children. She enjoyed serving with the Pleasant View Parent Teacher Association (PTA) during their school years.
She and her husband John J. Everest, whom she married May 13, 1949 in Toledo, Oregon, owned and operated Ozark Fence Company in Springfield until their retirement in 1995.
Elizabeth was saved and baptized at an early age at High Street Baptist Church and was a long time member of Bellview Baptist Church where she taught the Junior Girls Sunday School class and sang in the choir. In recent years, Elizabeth and John attended services at High Street Baptist Church.
Her favorite activities included cheerleading her family, gardening, travel and the family lake house at Table Rock lake. She loved to prepare delicious meals for family and friends and was well known for her flowers.
Three brothers, Roscoe, Everett and Frank Williams, and a sister, Marie Davis preceded her in death.
She is survived by two brothers, John Williams Jr. and Edward Williams (Louise) of Springfield, a daughter, Nancy Glor (Mike) of Springfield, three sons, Steve (Clovia), Jim (Donna), of Springfield and David (Cathy) of Prairie Village, KS. Surviving grandchildren and great-grandchildren include Jeffrey, John (Kim), Adrien (Arthur), Joe, Brent, Rachel, Sarah, Joshua, Pamela, Macie and Abbey. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive her.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Three Rivers Hospice and Community In-Home Care for their loving care of our Mother.
Visitation for Elizabeth will be from 6 pm to 8 pm, Sunday, December 15 at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Monday, December 16, 2013 with Richard Bemarkt officiating.
