Mary Janes Sachs (Barnes), 82, of Springfield, MO, passed away on March 8, 2024 at her home. She was born in Fordland, MO on September 12, 1941, daughter of Harold and Gladys Barnes. She is preceded in death by her parents and beloved stepfather Paul Matthews, a brother Ivan Barnes, husband LeRoy Sachs and sons Tom Ruble and Tobey Shelburn, and great-grandson William Stephen Ruble.
She is survived by her brother Ted Barnes, and sisters Merna Elledge and Vonda Bain-Morrison, two sons Jack Ruble (Donna) and John Ruble (Sue), and two daughters Lisa Sachs and Leanne Ahearn (Michael). She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to raising her six children, Mary Jane worked as “lunch lady” in the cafeteria at Fort Osage High School. She volunteered at the Christian schools where her three youngest children attended. She worked at Positronics in Springfield where she retired.
Mary Jane loved God and made sure all those around her knew him too. She and her husband, LeRoy Sachs shared a love for listening to and singing southern gospel music. Her hobbies were sewing, crocheting, genealogy, and gardening. She loved to show you the flowers she planted and tell you about each one.
LeRoy Sachs, Mary Jane’s husband, will also be memorialized during the services and then they will be laid to rest together.
LeRoy Sachs was born on December 22, 1925, son of Sylvester and Lois Sachs. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Howard Sachs, sons Tom Ruble and Tobey Shelburn, granddaughter, Theresa Michelle Sachs, and great-grandson William Stephen Ruble. He is survived by four sons Eddie Sachs (Donna), Jack Ruble (Donna), John Ruble (Sue) and Shaun Sachs, five daughters Marcia Sachs, Kay Wampler, Donna Heavin, Lisa Sachs and LeAnne Ahearn (Michael). He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He was a veteran of WW2 and a lifelong member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union. He retired from Hulett Heating and Air Conditioning in Columbia, MO.
His favorite activity was playing music and singing. He played guitar, piano and harmonica. He also enjoyed watching a variety of sports. He liked to tinker around in his workshop. Many of his ‘inventions’ have given us stories to tell. LeRoy passed away in Springfield, MO on September 05, 2019.
Visitation will be at Noon on Wednesday, March 13 followed by the memorial service at 1:00 pm at Greenlawn North Funeral Home, 3506 North National Springfield, MO.
Burial will follow at Bass Chapel Cemetery 8417 N State HWY 125 Strafford, MO 65757.
