Mary Mildred McCurry Evans was born December 12, 1917 and passed away April 7, 2021 at the age of 103. She was saved at the age of 18 during the first revival of the newly organized High Street Baptist Church. She met her husband, George, at church, and became the first couple to be married at High Street after it was organized, and they were married 62 wonderful years. They were blessed with one son, Gary Evans. She taught Sunday school and sang in the choir for forty years. She also worked in the young singles department serving thousands over the course of her lifetime. At the age of 95 she said that her life was very fulfilled because she had a great marriage, family, church and was able to travel. Mildred was a true picture of a selfless giving person who willingly served others as she mirrored the virtuous woman as described in Proverbs 31. She modeled Christ in all her action, and will be remembered by many for her gentle, kind, giving spirit.
