Matthew Francis Trokey, Esq. departed this life on March 22, 2023. He was sixty-two years old.
Matt was born fourth of four children to Morgan Joseph Trokey, Sr. and Mary Frances (Doyle) Trokey in St. Louis, Missouri. The family moved to Springfield, Missouri where he began fifth grade, ultimately graduating from Kickapoo High School. He was active in sports throughout his school years.
Matt met the love of his life, Jane (Kershaw) Trokey on a church bus trip to Six Flags when they were teenagers, remaining together ever since! They were married at St. Agnes Cathedral upon graduating from Missouri State University where Matt studied political science. They promptly moved to St. Louis, Missouri, where Matt studied law at Washington University. Following that graduation, he returned to the Ozarks and began his law career at Neale and Newman law firm. A few years later, he accepted a position in Branson, Missouri with then Cantwell, Allman & Smith law firm, which later became known as Cantwell, Smith & Trokey, LLP, where he remained for the rest of his career.
Throughout his life, Matt was a passionate hunter and University of Oklahoma sports fan, though he never attended said institution. He loved his home, built on his hunting acreage. He loved blues music and weekend trips to Eureka Springs with Jane. He was most proud of being called “Grandpa.” He enjoyed many close friendships and had a wide circle of friends. He will be deeply, deeply missed.
Matt is survived by wife, Jane; daughter and law partner, Kate Trokey-Harris, her husband, Zach, and four children, Marshall, Elin, Easton, and T.J. Harris; and son, Cole Trokey, his wife, Jessica, and two children, Freya and Keiran Trokey. He is also survived by three siblings, Phil Trokey, Morgan Trokey, Jr., Michelle Bush, their spouses, and numerous nieces and nephews. Jane’s family became his own and he is survived by numerous in-laws who loved him as their own.
