Mavis Rhoda Paddock, age 63, passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior at her home on December 24th, 2019. She was born July 24th, 1956 to Rev. Walter and Miriam Fowke in Carman, Manitoba, Canada. Following in the footsteps of her mother, Mavis received her Registered Nursing training from Grace General Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba, in 1976. She worked in Riverdale Hospital in Rivers, Manitoba until the family moved to Ellendale, ND in the fall of 1988. While her husband Darryl attended Trinity Bible College, Mavis worked as a nurse at the Dickey County Memorial Hospital in Ellendale. When the family moved to Springfield, MO in 1992 Mavis worked at Cox North Hospital, at the Taylor Health Center on the campus of SMS (now MSU), and then became a much-loved school nurse with the Springfield School Division, serving last at York Elementary school. In January 2005 Mavis was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor, but after surgery and radiation treatments she was able to return to work and finish out the final months of that school year at York Elementary School. But a little more than a year later the cancer would return, and Mavis was forced to suspend her nursing career.
Mavis is predeceased by her father, Walter Fowke, and her brother, Evan Fowke. Left to mourn her passing are her loving husband Darryl, their children, Jana (Kevin) McClure, Aaron (Stephanie)Paddock, Stephen (Rachel) Paddock, and Kara (Josh) Campbell, all of Springfield, MO, her mother, Miriam Fowke, her brothers Mark (Dorine) Fowke of Kemptville, Ontario, Canada, and Earl Fowke (Loraine) of Altona, Manitoba, Canada, as well as 13 grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
