Maxine Mayfield-Reed a beloved mother-grandmother and friend passed away June 5,2026, in her home at Pleasant Hope, Missouri, at the age of 104. Born May 22, 1922, in Elkland, Missouri, to Earnest and Vada Gardner. She was the 3rd oldest of 8 children.
Maxine married Travis Mayfield in 1938 and born into this union were a son Gene and a daughter Verdonna. After Travis’ passing in 1988, Maxine meet and married Vernon Reed until his death in 2001. Maxine worked outside of the home most of her life doing many different jobs including Bolivar Manufacturing where she served as a floor manager for most of her career. She enjoyed many hobbies including cooking/baking, gardening, and square dancing but most of all spending time with her family.
Maxine is preceded in death by her parents, all 7 of her siblings, a son-in-law Robert Enyart, a granddaughter, Melissa and her husband Steven Cozad. She leaves behind her children Gene (Anita) Mayfield and Verdonna Enyart. 5 grandchildren, Rhonda (Greg) Seiner, Randy (Wanda) Bradley, Kimberly (Jeff) Cunningham, Jody Enyart, and Tracy (Gina) Enyart, 13 great grandchildren: Chad, Brad, Tyron, Travis, Zach, Ethan, Crystal, Abby, Cassilyn, Jayden, Morgan, Laney, and Tristan; and 15 great-great grandchildren.
She leaves a cherished legacy of love and family that will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched. As we gather to remember her, we will celebrate a life well lived, a soul dearly missed and a spirit that will forever shine brightly in our memories.
The community is invited to celebrate her life at Greenlawn Funeral Home North in Springfield, Missouri on June 10,2026, at 11:00am until 12:00pm, proceeding the funeral service to honor her memory,which will begin at 12:00pm. Following the service, Maxine will be layed to rest at Old Pleasant View Cemetery in Elkland, Missouri at 1:30pm.
