Maxine Marion Truitt (nee Minnick)
Born: January 22, 1920, in Rogers, AR to Jess and Jessie Minnick.
Passed from this life at 90 years of age on October 13, 2010, in Springfield, MO, where she had lived for many years.
Maxine is survived by one sister, JLee Beckman of Chehalis, WA, many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Although she had no children of her own, she was much beloved by the many children and young people whose lives she touched in the many years of ministry in Missouri and Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Clifford C. Truitt, her parents and siblings; Ruth Alley, Mary Lou Fox and JR Minnick.
Maxine graduated from Springfield Senior High School in 1938 and was an active member of Central Assembly of God Church from childhood.
August 6, 1941, she married Clifford C. Truitt, who was a graduate of Central Bible College, they moved to Clinton, MO, to pastor the Assembly of God church. During the many years until retirement in 1978 they pastored churches in Pine Bluff and Little Rock, AR, Kansas City, Poplar Bluff, Kennett, and Carthage, MO. They started and built the First Assembly of God Church in Moberly, MO. After retirement, they were interim pastors at many churches throughout the Southern Missouri District of the Assemblies of God.
Maxine will also be remembered for the years of service to the Boys and Girls Camp for the Southern Missouri District at the Lake of the Ozarks where she made a lasting impact on hundreds of young people.
She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. Her gentle, loving spirit and kind heart are an example to us all. . . a lasting legacy.
A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, October 18, 2010 at the Maranatha Village Chapel, 233 East Norton Road, where she has lived for the past several years. Burial will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 1:30 pm.
Memorial donations may be made to The Clifford C. and Maxine Truitt Scholarship Fund at Central Bible College, Springfield, MO.
Services have been entrusted to Greenlawn South Funeral Home.
