A Private Graveside service for Melvin Lee Presley age 85 of Kimberling City, Missouri was held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Springfield, Missouri under the direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home in Branson. A Celebration of Life services may be held at a later date due to the Covid-19 restrictions at this time.
He passed away on June 9, 2020 at the Shepherd of The Hills Living Center in Branson, Missouri.
Melvin was born on April 11, 1935 in Springfield, Missouri the son of Elmer and Floie Gentry Presley. He was a lifelong resident of the area and had spent the last 50 years in Stone County, Missouri. He was a retired teacher and graduated from Central High School in Springfield, Missouri and attended and received his master’s degree from S.M.S. in Springfield. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Kimberling City where he was very active as a member of the choir, a Sunday School Teacher and served as a Deacon until his failing health. He was also a Gideon.
He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Florence Presley of the home in Kimberling City, three children; Terri Cooper (John) of Reeds Spring, Missouri, Ken Presley (Julia) of Lee’s Summit, Missouri and Darrin Presley (Hollie) of Denver Colorado.
Seven grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Jerry Presley and a sister Virginia Machicao.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested in his memory to the Gideons, First Baptist Church in Kimberling City, Missouri or to the donor’s favorite charity.
