Merle A. Wheat, 97, passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2012. Merle lived in Springfield, MO, for many years. She was a founding member of Golden Avenue Missionary Baptist Church.
Merle was preceded in death by her husband; Herman Wheat, her parents; James and Flossie ( Pope) Gardner. Merle is survived by children; James D. Wheat, of Beverly Hills FL., Dorothy J. Cheek of Springfield, MO., Richard L. Wheat of Tacoma WA., and Paula K. O’neal, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Thursday, November 29, 2012 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Greenlawn Funeral Home South. Graveside services will follow at 12:00 p.m. in Delaware Cemetery in Nixa, MO. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Regional Hospice of Springfield.
