Merlyn J. Muench, 88, of Springfield, Mo. went to his heavenly home Thursday, August 25, 2011. He was the son of William and Bessie Muench of St. Louis, Mo., and was born February 16, 1923.
He is survived by his dear wife Marie M. (LAYTON), being joined in marriage May 26, 1946; two daughters, Joyce M. Muench and Janet L. Bold; a sister, Betty Byers; three grandchildren and their spouses; and five
great-grandchildren.
Merlyn was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Judith Worth; and a brother, Bill Muench.
The high point of his life was his 50 years of service as a Council Man for the Assemblies of God, Light for the Lost department. His desire was to reach the lost through world missions.
Merlyn had served with the U.S. Army during World War II.
Funeral services will be Thursday, September 1, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Maranatha Chapel, with visitation from 9:00 a.m. until services.
Burial will be in the Missouri Veterans’ Cemetery, with full military honors.
