Michael Boyce Higgins, born April 25, 1948, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, November 29, 2015 at Northwoods Hills Care Center in Humansville, Mo. Mike died after a short physical illness, but endured a lifetime of disability due to mental illness.Before her death in 2011 Mike’s mother, Ruth Higgins, devotedly cared for Mike and actively pursued the best treatment for him. With family support and proper treatment Mike was an employee of Zenith for 15 years. Mike was a beloved member of his family and was included in family social functions, short trips, and especially enjoyed going out to eat burgers and fries. Mike’s life was significant. He worked and he gave and received affection and friendship.Mike was also preceded in death by his father Doran Higgins.He is survived by his cousins and guardians, Cynthia (John) Scholz and Richard (Mary) Haege.There will be a graveside service on Friday, December 4, 2015, at 11 a.m. in Maple Park Cemetery in Springfield, MO. Services have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home South.
