Mick Riddle, age 61, of Springfield, MO, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2012. He was born November 23, 1950 in Monett, Missouri to Charles Leon and Elma Ruth (Cook) Riddle.
He was first baptized as a child, then again as a young adult when he accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. He was a member of Second Baptist Church where he and his wife, Jan, taught youth for 28 years. He had a profound influence on many, who will always remember his smile and contagious sense of humor.
He graduated from Cassville High School and attended Southwest Missouri State University where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Psychology and his Masters Degree in Guidance and Counseling. He worked as an aftercare youth counselor with at-risk teens for 33 years with the State of Missouri Division of Youth Services.
He was preceded in death by his parents and several uncles and aunts.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Jan; son Collin Christopher Riddle and his fiance’ Ashley Ealy; brother Charles Leon Riddle, Virginia Riddle, wife of Leon for 13 years; uncle Larry Riddle and wife Beverly; and aunt Evelyn Riddle and a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 13, 2012, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and a celebration of his life on Saturday, July 14, 2012, at 10:00 am both in Greenlawn Funeral Home East, Springfield, MO, with Rev. Gene Gibbons and Dr. John Marshall officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be left with the funeral home for the Second Baptist Youth Ministry or Missouri Baptist Children’s Home.
