Michael “Mike” Lewis Hurst was 74 years old. He passed away on Monday, May 4, 2026. He was born on Saturday, June 16, 1951 in Wichita, Kansas to Lewis and Edna Hurst.
He grew up in the Branson, Missouri area. He was a graduate of Branson High School in 1969. While in school, he worked for Silver Dollar City as a Cave Tour Guide. He graduated from Central Missouri State College (now the University of Central Missouri) in Warrensburg, Missouri. He proudly earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Science in 1953.
He enjoyed a career for over 30 years in the banking industry with the same company. He retired from U.S. Bank in 2009 (formerly Mercantile Bank and First Star). He earned many trips for hitting company goals including Hawaii, Bahamas, Mexico, and the Virgin Islands.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents Lewis and Edna Hurst.
He is survived by his two children: his son, Nickolas Hurst and wife, Cheyanna; daughter, Victoria Scott, and her husband, Seth; three adored grandchildren: Miles Hurst, Lyla Scott and Keegan Scott; two brothers: Pat Hurst and Brian Pinkstaff; three nieces: Patricia, Lana and Kayla; dear friends and colleagues as well as his two dogs, YoYo and Dingo.
He was a huge fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, a Jeep enthusiast, and loved the Table Rock Lake life. He loved being outdoors and on the water in his boat where he was a great water skier and fisherman. He loved to take the kids tubing. He loved watching wildlife and bird watching. He enjoyed gardening and took pride in sharing his cucumbers and tomatoes.
He loved music, especially, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix and the Rolling Stones. He always listened to the classic rock station at the lake house. He shared his love of movies with his children. He was a fan of Forrest Gump, The Blues Brothers, and O Brother, where art thou?
Mike was crafty and could repair anything. He will be remembered by his children as a “MacGyver” fixer of all things.
Mike leaves a legacy of integrity, love of nature and an unwavering devotion to his family.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, from 1:00-2:00 pm, at Greenlawn Funeral Home East. Immediately following the visitation, there will be a Celebration of Life service at the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
