Michael Roy Bryant “GUM”
Michael Roy Bryant, age 59 of Springfield, lost his courageous battle with Leukemia on October 9, 2011 in Tennessee Valley Veterans Hospital in Nashville and is now walking with Jesus on the streets of gold in Heaven. He was born January 21, 1952 in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Robert and Shirley Bryant.
Mike proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1972. He was united in marriage to Patricia Jackson and they celebrated over 30 years together. Mike poured his heart and soul into J-Mac Printing before its closing in 2009. He loved to go fishing and camping, especially at Stockton Lake.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy, in 2001; his parents and brother, Jerry Bryant.
Survivors include his daughter, Tawney Zajkowski of St. James, MO; granddaughter, Courtney Castor of Sullivan, MO; sister, Patricia McKellips of Springfield, MO; niece, Sherri Lechner and husband Rick and nephew, Michael Graves and wife Serena all of Springfield, MO; six great nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 15, 2011 in Greenlawn Funeral Home North with burial to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held tonight from 4-6 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Broadway Baptist Church in his memory.
