Mildred Louise Cloyd was born June 17, 1924, in Springfield, Missouri, the oldest child of David and Irene (Byrd) Dean. She graduated in January, 1941 from Springfield Senior High (now Central High School). On February 24, 1945 she married Jesse Cloyd. They lived in Newton and Davenport, Iowa, and St. Louis, Mo. From 1955 to 1958 the family lived in New Zealand, returning to live in Springfield, where Jess practiced Chiropractic for thirty years and the children grew up and all graduated from Hillcrest High School. After retiring in 1990 they moved to Phoenix, Ariz. In 2002 they moved to Hot Springs, S.D., to be closer to family. She enjoyed being a wife, mother, homemaker, and seamstress.
Louise passed away March 20, 2011 at home in Hot Springs, S.D. with her family at her bedside.
Survivors include her husband Dr. Jess Cloyd, sons Larry (Barbara) Cloyd of Gladstone, Mo., and David of Hot Springs, S.D.; daughters Linda (Walter) Weeda of Sandy, Utah, and Anne Cassens of Edgemont, S.D.; nine grandchildren, and eighteen great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her brothers David (Helen) Dean of Springfield, Mo.; Norman (Shirley) Dean of Davenport, Iowa; and a sister Imogene Beyer of Phoenix, Ariz.
Visitation was Tuesday evening March 22 in McColleys Chapel in Hot Springs. A second visitation will be held Thursday evening March 24 from 6 to 8 p.m. in Greenlawn Funeral Home East in Springfield, MO with funeral services Friday at 1 p.m. at the same location with burial following.
