Lucas “Luke” Benjamin Viles passed away peacefully on Friday January 7th, 2022 at 41 years old. Lucas was a lifelong resident of Springfield, Missouri. He is survived by his son, Wyatt Viles, his father William (Bill) Viles, brother William (Billy) and Sarah Viles, brother Nick and Michelle Viles , and a sister Taylor (Viles) and Landon Small. Lucas was preceded in death by his Mother Cylenda Gayle (Martin) Viles, Maternal Grandparents Leon and Geraldine Martin and Paternal Grandparents Jeff and Mary Ann Viles.
From childhood, Lucas had a kind and gentle heart and was known as a “gentle giant”. As a young boy Lucas had a love for animals. During the summer his family spent a lot of time on Table Rock Lake. He always insisted that he would not go fishing because he felt like catching a fish would hurt it. His love of animals continued throughout his life where he always had a dog or two that he enjoyed spoiling.
Lucas attended Parkview High School and graduated with a Bachelors Degree at SMSU now known as Missouri State University. Throughout his school years he made many friends that he remained close with his entire life. Lucas was known to have a great sense of humor and he is most famously known for his ability to pull an epic prank all to get a good laugh.
One of his many talents included being a creative artist. His favorite things to draw were comical caricatures poking fun at friends and family by exaggerating their features and mannerisms. These hilarious drawings brought him great joy and lots of laughter.
When Lucas was passionate about something he excelled to the top. He was an avid body-builder which led him to become a Certified Personal Trainer so he could help others excel to their fullest. He spent many hours a week in the gym and researched fitness and nutrition extensively. He took great pride in his physique and his ability to take it to its fullest potential.
Above all, his greatest achievement personally was the birth of his son Wyatt Bear Viles. They would enjoy spending time outdoors riding their mountain bikes, kayaking, exploring parks and restaurants downtown, playing catch and going to the batting cages. He was always proud of all the accomplishments Wyatt achieved in sports.
Lucas was loved dearly by many and has touched the lives of those who knew him. He will be missed always.
A graveside service will be held at Eastlawn Cemetery on Friday, January 14th at 1pm. A Celebration of Life will be immediately following in the banquet room at Ocean Zen (3-5pm). The family welcomes all who want to celebrate Lucas’ life and to share their memories together.
