Myrtle Evelyn Ricker, 94, passed away, January 02, 2013. She was born in La Plata, MO., the daughter of J.J. and Grace May Surber Cartmill on June 16, 1918.
Mrs. Ricker went to school in La Plata until the fifth grade when the family moved to Carrollton, MO. She graduated from Carrollton H.S. in 1936.
Mrs. Ricker and Lloyd Ethan Ricker were united in marriage on December 31, 1936 in Iola, Kansas. They lived in Wyoming and Colorado for forty years before they retired in Springfield. Besides being a housewife and mother, Mrs. Ricker worked for 17 years on local newspapers in Thermopolis and Torrington, Wyoming. She also gave a great deal of time to her church.
Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd Ethan Ricker. Myrtle is survived by three sons, Lloyd E. Ricker, Jr. and his wife, Georgine, of Colorado; Dennis Ricker and his wife, Sheri, of Colorado and Gary L. Ricker and his wife, Barbara, of Florida; a daughter, Marilyn L. Ricker, of Springfield and many grandchildren and great- grandchildren who were dearly loved.
There will be a private burial later. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Glendale Christian Church Children’s Fund or a charity of your choice . Arrangements have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home South.
