Myrtle S. Thompkins

Myrtle was preceded in death by her father Robert Duke, her mother Ruby Duncan Duke, brothers Nelson, Samuel, Lester, James and Joe Duke, and sister Mary Hawthorne.
Myrtle leaves to mourn her husband of 27 years Glenn L. Thompkins of the home, her daughters; Carla M. Latin (Eric Williams) of Leavenworth, Kansas, Mitzi L. Gardner (Donnie Paul) of Kansas City, Missouri, and Jewell (Johnson) Gardner (Darren Smith)of Springfield, Missouri, her step children; Glendora E. Wright of Kansas City, Missouri, Gwendolyn F. Popoola ( Mike) of Olathe, Kansas, Kenneth L. Mack (Bridgette) of Kansas City, Kansas and Larraine S. Dillard of Kansas City, Missouri.; her grandchildren, Tyman Latin, Tyrone Gardner ,Rafael Johnson, Carmella Latin, Steven Johnson, Chahira and Cahiram Latin and Desmon Johnson, 10 Great grandchildren and 10 step grandchildren.; her in laws, Dorles Perkins (Kenny)of Springfield, Missouri Shirley Price (Charles) of Hartville, Missouri, June Loudermill (Lee) of Springfield Missouri, Wilda Winslett (Dennis) of Olathe Kansas, Dillard Thompkins (Shirley) of Olathe, Kansas, Carolyn Taylor of Necodoches, Texas and Kathy Simmons of Olathe Kansas.; in laws who preceded her in death, Ester Jefferson, Velma Moore, Clara Duke, Carl and Wilber Thompkins and a hosts of nephews , nieces, family and friends.
Myrtle graduated from Central High School in 1957 and from nursing school in 1966. She retired from the Johnson County Kansas Nursing Center in 2002.
Family requests donations in lieu of flowers to the American Cancer Society.
Graveside services will be Saturday July 23, 2011 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 00 a.m. untill services at Greeenlawn North Funeral Home.
