Nancy Carol “Honey” Rothermel Sloan. Was called to her heavenly home on January 28, 2021 to be with her Lord and Savior, and family members that have been gone before her.
She was born in Springfield, MO to Pearl “McKinnis” Rothermel and Milton “Mick” Rothermel on May 13, 1937, the 3rd of 5 kids.
She lived in Springfield, MO all of her life and worked at Lily Tulip for 17 years and then later for Via Tech Publishing Solutions for 27 years.
Nancy married Allen I. Sloan in July 1963, and was married for 30 years, raising 3 children, Cindy, Allen, and Ellen.
Nancy enjoyed bowling for many years and loved to travel when she could. Two of her favorite trips was a trip to Alaska with family and a bus tour with her cousin. Nancy loved going to Flea Markets, looking for treasures. She loved quilts and had a quite a collection. She enjoyed making baby blankets for family and friends. She loved going to the park with her brothers, sisters, and their families to have cook outs and spend time with them. Nancy always enjoyed spending time with her friends.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Allen; her parents Pearl and Milton Rothermel; two sisters Thelma “Tyken” Copeland and Patricia Cavin; and one brother Ted Rothermel.
She is survived by her children, Ellen (Sloan) Shook, Cindy Johnson and husband Danny, and Allen Sloan and wife Pam; 7 grandchildren, Isaac Shook, Jason Pytel, Jamie Pytel and wife Heather, Joshua Pytel and wife Katrina, Jeremiah Pytel and wife Katy; Sharla (Sloan) Hawks and husband Ronnie, and Dakota Sloan and wife Kate; several great – grandchildren; one brother, John Rothermel and wife Donna; one sister-in-law, Juanita Rothermel; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.
The family would like to thank everyone for their condolences, thoughts, and prayers over the past months. Ellen would like to personally thank her O.E.S. family for their love and support.
A celebration of Nancy’s life will be held at 12:00 pm, Saturday, June 12, 2021 at the Gate of The Temple Masonic Lodge, 1700 N Boonville Ave, Springfield, MO 65803.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting Memorial donations be made to the Gate of The Temple Food Pantry, or by bringing a donation of canned or dry goods, or men and women’s hygiene products to the Masonic Lodge the day of the service, as the Mason’s are starting a food pantry for those in need. Cremation services have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home North.
