Nancy Ford passed away peacefully June 17, 2010 at Magnolia Square in
Springfield, Missouri. Nancy was born on March 28, 1931 in Kennett, Missouri to William Charles Macom and Doshia Gibson Macom. She was one of eleven children.
At an early age, Nancy professed her faith in Jesus Christ and had a true servant’s heart all of her life. She was a very compassionate and caring person. She always put others first. She will forever be remembered by her friends and family for her love and generosity towards them. While Nancy was still a child, her family moved to Gideon, Missouri. At Gideon High School, she was active in sports especially basketball and was elected May Queen.
After graduating from high school during the war years, she lived and worked in Alton, Illinois.
After a time, she returned to Kennett where she met and married Weyman Bost and eventually moved to Portageville, Missouri where he owned an auto parts business. While living there, they
made many friends including those with whom they worshipped with at the First Baptist Church. Weyman preceded her in death in 1972.
Nancy then moved back to Kennett where she worked for State Farm Insurance. She married
James L. Ford, a lifelong resident of Kennett. After four loving and wonderful months together,
James went home to be with the Lord.
After retiring from State Farm, she embarked on a new career working for Panoramic Tours that enabled her to travel to every state including Hawaii and Alaska. She enjoyed being a tour guide because she loved to serve people. She was fulfilling a life time of servant hood. After her career ended, she moved to Springfield to be close to her two sisters. She quickly became involved in Second Baptist Church where she again used her gifts of hospitality and servant hood to minister to God’s people. She made many friends there, and they all brought a smile to her face as they worked together to make a difference in the lives of others. She also had an opportunity to volunteer at the Visitor’s Center, ManorCare Nursing Home, after school Children’s Ministry, Victory Mission and was very active in her Sunday school class and adult’s ministry.
Her friends surprised Nancy with a lovely 87th birthday party including refreshments, music, and wonderful fellowship. She will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she has touched.
