Nancy Lee Richardson of Springfield, Missouri passed away peacefully at home on June 29, 2013, at age 69. Nancy was born on February 26, 1944 in Lafayette, IN to Mary Elizabeth (Sines) and PVT. U.S. Marine Corp. Robert Anthony Burke (KIA WWII), and raised by her Dad, Jack Scott.
Nancy was a graduate of Jefferson High School in Lafayette, IN where she was active with acappella groups and Madrigal choir. She graduated from the Patricia Stevens College in 1963. She worked as a secretary at Purdue University and then in various administrative positions until she retired in 2000. Nancy was baptized a Christian and loved music, singing in church choirs and playing piano. She enjoyed sewing, computer games, and spending time with family.
Nancy married Tom Richardson on May 4, 1963 and was blessed with 50 years of marriage. She was preceded in death by her mother and one grandson, Matthew Boone. Nancy is survived by her dad, Jack Scott of Lafayette, IN, husband Tom Richardson, brother Kenny (Viola) Burke of Mishawaka IN, sister Lou Anne Scott of Nashville TN, children Bradley Richardson of Paxton IL, Jennifer (Rick) Joy of Springfield MO, and Rachel (Glen) Campbell of Springfield MO. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren who made her an extremely proud Nana, namely Katrina Rascher, Jessica Richardson, Joshua Richardson, Logan Richardson, Lauren Richardson, Landon Richardson, Amber Boone, Austin Joy, Candis Campbell, Garrett Campbell and Dakota Campbell, as well as 2 great-grandchildren (plus one on the way), and countless nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Friday, July 5th at Greenlawn Funeral Home South, Springfield, with funeral services to follow. Burial will be in Brookline Cemetery. A Celebration of Life gathering will follow interment at Chapel for Peace, Community of Christ located at 909 West Battlefield in Springfield.
