Nellie R. Mayfield, age 91, of Strafford, MO, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Strafford Care Center. She was born July 9, 1924, in Wapello, IA, to Grover and Minnie (Gregory) Riggs. She was a raised in the Baptist faith. She was a retired author of children’s books.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband William Dale Mayfield. She is survived by her son; Greg Mayfield, grand-daughter; great-grand-daughters; and great-grandsons; sisters; Polly and her husband Herman May, FL, Nita Johnson, TN.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 26, 2016, at Rock Prairie Cemetery (Pleasant Hope), with Rev. Dewayne Burdett officiating. Services have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield, MO.
