Noel David Thomas Choate, 81, of Bolivar, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at the Missouri Veteran’s Home in St. James, Missouri. Dave was born on December 1, 1943, in Bolivar, Missouri to Charles and Weasie (Jump) Choate. Dave joined the United States Army in March of 1963. He retired from the U.S. Army as a Master Sergeant in March of 1983.
Dave was above all else a family man. He cherished his son and his family. Dave was always there to lend a helping hand and take care of the people around him. He loved spending time with family and friends, laughing and being ornery. After his wife, Mary, passed away, Dave moved in with his son’s family. He enjoyed getting to bond with his daughter-in-law over their shared Army service, and grew an unbreakable bond with his grandson, Aleczander.
Dave is preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Wilson) Choate; his parents; his daughter, Joyce Garrett; sisters: Sharon Choate, Jane Choate and Dorothy Bean, and cousin, John Choate.
He is survived by his sons: David Choate, and wife, Shelley, and Mike Garrett; daughter, Brenda Morisset, and husband, Roy; grandchildren: Thomas Choate, Gabrielle Choate, Lilly Choate, Gracen McBride, Aleczander Choate, Sean Bruce, and Justin Bruce; 10 great grandchildren; siblings: Wayne Choate, Lee Choate, Barbara Hartley, Ruth Prince, and Pearl Scrivener; and many other relatives and friends.
Dave will be cremated, according to his wishes. There will be a private family inurnment at Mt. Olive Cemetery near Bolivar, at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Pitts Chapel of Bolivar, Missouri.
Dave was a beacon of love and he will be missed by all who knew him.
