Norman Lavelle Carlock Jr.
He was a young man who secured a special place in a lot of hearts because he had a big heart. That was Lavelle Carlock. Norman Lavelle Carlock Jr. was born in Springfield, Mo., December 5, 1967, to Kathryn Clay and Norman Carlock. He attended school in Springfield and graduated from Central High School. Lavelle passed away on November 25, 2009, in Jefferson City, Mo., after being injured in an accident. He was 41 years old. He was united in marriage to Linda Thomas “Becky” in June of 2009, in Jefferson City, Mo. He is survived by his wife; his mother, Kathryn Clay of Hurst, Texas; grandmother Alma Clay of Springfield, Mo.; two brothers, Nathaniel Clay and Todd Wells of Springfield; five aunts, Karen Clay of Topeka, Kan., Chrissy Heard (Nick), and Chelly Wright of Kansas City, Mo., Deb Richardson (Rob) of Springfield, and Carlotta Carlock of Springfield; four uncles, Walter Clay (Sharman), Lynn Clay (Cheryl), Charles Clay and Calvin Carlock, all of Springfield; and six children, Rashawnda and Merika McCulloch, Ebbony, Makayla and Kendall McCrimmons, and Dequavion Johnson, all of Springfield. He was preceded in death by his father, Norman Carlock; maternal grandfather, Noble Clay Jr.; paternal grandparents, Luida and Delmus Carlock, who reared him; daughter Salinda McCulloch; sister Niecy King; uncle Mike Carlock; and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 1, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m., and funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 2, 2009, all in Greenlawn Funeral Home East, 3540 E. Seminole.
