Nova Joy “Pud” Combs, 83, of Springfield, MO/ Aurora MO, passed away on January 22, 2015 in Mercy Hospital. Nova was born on April 14, 1931 in Fairmont, OK. She graduated from Aurora High School in 1949. Nova married Bobbie Eugene Combs on May 1, 1947 in Eureka Springs, AR. Nova was a Navy wife and supported her husband’s military career for twenty one years.
Over the years she had several jobs including working at a bathing suit factory, managing a trophy shop, and doing bookwork for a construction company. She retired from working in 1996.
Nova was a member of the Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Springfield, MO. She was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary (FRA) and the Hammons Heart Institutes Rehab and exercise. She enjoyed spending time with her family and especially supporting her grandchildren’s endeavors.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Judy Lee Combs; her parents; a sister; and four brothers.
She is survived by her spouse of almost sixty years, Bobbie Eugene Combs; a daughter, Rebecca (Anthony) Solari of Springfield, MO; two grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Olivia joy and Phillip Anthony Solari; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 25, 2015, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Greenlawn Funeral Home South. The funeral service will be Monday, January 26, 2015, at 2 p.m.
Burial will immediately follow at Maple Park Cemetery in Aurora. The family has requested that donations be made to Mercy Hospice, 1570 W. Battlefield, Suite 110, Springfield, MO 65807
