Novalene Fletcher, age 91, of Springfield, MO, passed away Monday, March 21, 2011, at St. John’s Medical Center. She was born March 27, 1919, in Springfield, MO, to James Albert and Amy Myrtle (Brown) Johnston. She was a member of Jefferson Avenue Baptist Church. She graduated from Southwest Baptist College in 1948, where she lettered in music. Novalene played piano in the 1950’s as part of her husband’s ministry and in her Sunday school class in recent years. She was involved in church throughout her life, and in recent years was an active member of Jefferson Avenue Baptist Church’s K.I.T. (Keep In Touch) ministry. The family wishes to thank the K.I.T. Ministry for the support and love given to Novalene during her last few days of life.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her huband George G. Fletcher; and a brother Leo Johnston.
She is survived by her son Mark R. Fletcher of Springfield, MO; as well as two nephews, one niece, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, March 25, 2011, at Greenlawn Funeral Home South, Springfield, MO with Rev. Jonathan House officiating. Burial will be held in Good Spring Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, March 24, 2011, in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Southwest Baptist University. Arrangements have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home South, Springfield, MO.
