It is with a heavy heart today that I announce that on October 31, 2025, my sweet mother, Oneta F. Bryant, passed from this life to her home in Glory, following a long illness. For 67 years she was a faithful and loving wife to my dad, Norman Bryant, and a shining example of Christian faith and love to her family.
Oneta is survived by her husband, Norman; children, Elizabeth Bryant, Barbara Stemm and her husband, Charlie, Merle Bryant and his wife, Kelly, Roy Bryant and his wife, Michelle; sixteen grandchildren, Sara Hurd, Jared Stemm, Katelyn Taylor and her husband, Trae, Danielle Bryant, Andrew Bryant and his wife, Natalie, Alexander Bryant and his wife, Hannah, Austin Bryant and his wife, Deborah, Cristianne Bryant, Abbigael Long and her husband, John, Zackary Bryant, and Aidan Bryant; thirteen great-grandchildren, Abel Stemm, Dominick Simmons, Kian Nicklau, Elijah Bryant, Samuel Bryant, Joanna Bryant, Eva Rose Bryant, Hudson Bryant, Adalia Jo Bryant, Elizabeth Carol Bryant, Spencer Alan Bryant, and Jordan Wilder Haldiman; and a brother, Harold Kirk Highley.
Although we miss her tender presence in our lives every day, we rejoice with her that she is finally free of the physical limitations she has suffered with such sweet patience during that past several years. At last, she is walking with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Oneta has at last been reunited with those who preceded her in death: two sons, Yancy Bryant and Donny Bryant; her parents, Champ Clark Highley and Hester Lucille Highley; a sister, Ellen May Black; and a brother, Leroy Highley.
A Celebration of Life service honoring Oneta will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Greenlawn Funeral Home East, 3540 E. Seminole, in Springfield, with Pastor Roy Bryant officiating.
Care has been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home East.
