Opal Fern Hicks, age 80, of Springfield, MO, passed away Friday, May 4, 2012, in her home. She was born September 15, 1931, in Marshfield, MO, to John and Bethel (Haggard) Kesterson. She was a member of the Cherry Street Baptist Church. She was a life time employee of Kmart.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother Kenneth Kesterson, and one sister Gladys Muse.
She is survived by her three daughters: Judy and husband Ron Boaz, Diana and husband Roger Perryman all of Springfield, MO, and Sue Conner and friend Jess Richardson of Strafford, MO; four grandchildren: Keith Boaz, Crystal Schnake, Heather Crawford, and Kimberly Brownlow; four great grandchildren: Averie and Brady Boaz, Mason Schnake, and Addison Crawford; and a sister in-law Jean Kesterson.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, May 7, 2012, at Greenlawn Funeral Home East, Springfield, MO, with Rev. John Page officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Piscah cemetery Strafford, MO. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Sunday, May 6, 2012, in the funeral home.
