Opal G. Watson, age 93, of Springfield, MO, passed away Thursday, August 4, 2011 at Parkview Health Care, in Bolivar. She was born July 24, 1918, in Van, MO, to William and Allie (Nicodemus) Boos. Opal was united in marriage to James Parker Watson on April 12, 1936 in Bolivar Missouri. She was a member of the Grant Ave. Baptist Church in Springfield. In the 1950’s Opal owned and operated the Highway Café, she later opened Opal’s Café in Bolivar. Opal and her daughters moved back to Springfeld in 1959, soon afterwards she was employed by Dayton Rubber Company, where she was emloyed for 19 ½ befor retiring .
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Parker Watson; her parents, William Earnest and Allie Mae Boos. She is survived by two sons, James Earnest Watson and wife Dixie, Springfield, MO, William Afton Watson and wife Peggy of Brighton, MO; two daughters, Evelyn Carol Sutherland and Janice Lucille Sharp, both of Bolivar Mo; twelve grandchildren; twenty one great grandchildren ; sixteen great-great grandchildren; one brother, Delbert Boos of Tulsa Oklahoma. Opal was a special loving aunt to David Boos and Susan Cave, and a special friend to Dee Spann of Tulsa Oklahoma. Her life span garnered a host of family and friends who will miss her.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, August 8, 2011, at Pitts Chapel of Greenlawn Funeral Home, Bolivar, MO. Burial will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Springfield, MO. Visitation will be held from 12-1 p.m. on Monday, August 8, 2011 at Pitts Chapel of Greenlawn Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grant Ave. Baptist Church, Springfield, Missouri.
