Opal Gill, age 78, of Springfield, MO, passed away Monday, December 5, 2016 in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 24, 1938 in Hutton Valley, Missouri to Hiram and Gladys (Napier) Godsy and the 9th of 10 children.
She was a graduate of Willow Springs high school, and graduated from the Springfield Beauty College and obtained her license as a Cosmetologist and worked as a Cosmetologist for 20 years. She married the love of her life, Gene W. Gill, on August 29, 1959. She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and one sister. Opal is survived by her husband Gene W. Gill, of the home, her son, Stephen Gill of Newcastle, Oklahoma, her daughter Gena Gill of Springfield, MO, her grandson, Christopher Gill, of Newcastle, Oklahoma, grandson Nicholas Gill, of Edmond, Oklahoma, her brother Chester Godsy of Willow Springs, Missouri, her sister Dorothy Jackson of Warsaw, Missouri, and special friend of 60 years, Mildred Presson of Nixa, Missouri.
She enjoyed a full life, and loved her Lord, her church family at South Haven Baptist church of Springfield, her family, crappie fishing and especially her grandsons.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 from 10:00 to 11:00 am in Greenlawn Funeral Home South with the funeral service following at 11:00 am in the funeral home with Pastor Ryan Palmer officiating. Graveside services will be performed by Dennis Wedgeworth in Willow Springs cemetery, Willow Springs, Missouri at 1:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, Opal requested that donations be made to the South Haven Baptist Church building fund.
