Pamela Ann Puryear was born June 16, 1957 to Captain Howard Skinner and Mrs. Carolyn S. Skinner in Kingsville, TX. Pamela Ann Puryear was born June 16, 1957 to Captain Howard Skinner and Mrs. Carolyn S. Skinner in Kingsville, TX. Her father was a marine pilot, who later became a commercial pilot, and her mother was a nurse.
In 1974, Pamela married her first husband, an airman. Together they had two daughters. In the mid-1970s, the family moved to England. Pamela loved England, often telling stories of her time there, and had wished to return before her death.
After returning to the United States, Pamela attended nursing school, graduating in 1983, and worked for thirty-five years as an Alzheimer’s and Dementia care nurse at several nursing homes in Texas and Missouri.
During her retirement, Pamela enjoyed hanging out with friends, attending Bible study at her church, and caring for her beloved cat, Mollie. Pamela died May 2nd, 2024 at the age of sixty-six following a stroke.
Pamela is survived by her mother Carolyn Howard, her stepfather Ferrell Howard, her daughters: Julia (John) Turrentine and Jennifer (Kris) Brockel; two granddaughters: Sophie Davis and Dakota Brockel; and two great-granddaughters. She is preceded in death by her father Howard Skinner, her sisters Sandy Stokes and Jeannie Skinner, and her nephew Bradley Stone.
Services for Pam will wil at 1:00 pm Friday, May 17, 2024 at Greenlawn Funeral Home East. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 11:00 to 1:00 pm Friday prior to the service.
