Patricia Ann “Patty” Morris, 70, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away suddenly on December 25, 2025.
Patty was born on January 7, 1955, in St. Louis, Missouri. After graduating from Central High School, she dedicated more than 20 years to Litton before it closed. Never one to sit still; she later began a new career at Mercy Hospital, where she worked until retiring. Patty was known for her strong work ethic, commitment, and the care she put into everything she did.
She was preceded in death by her father, Walter Saunders; her mother, Florence Saunders; and her sister, Della Anderson.
She is survived by her loving husband, William R. “Butch” Morris Jr.; her sister, Brenda Hartwell (Tyler); her children, Wendy Haslip, April Morris, William “Pete” R. Morris III (Nichole), and Brittany Reid (Chris); six grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many more relatives and friends.
Patty deeply loved her husband, Butch, and cherished every moment they spent together. They especially enjoyed being outdoors, whether gardening, working on projects, or simply enjoying nature side by side. She also loved her grandchildren, taking great pride in watching them grow, learn, and explore. Patty and Butch often welcomed the grandchildren over to help in the garden or with building projects. She had a wide array of games, movies, and toys to keep them entertained and always looked forward to her time with family. Patty had many friends she considered family, and anyone who knew her understood the depth of her love and kindness.
Patty had a passion for gardening and could often be found planting, watering, and harvesting vegetables and herbs. She shared her knowledge generously with anyone interested in learning. Patty and Butch were also well known for helping friends with raised beds, soil preparation, and planting. Her generosity with both her time and gardening wisdom touched many and will be fondly remembered.
Patty loved cooking and grilling and could always be found planning gatherings—setting up, prepping food, or doing whatever was needed. She took great pride in using what she and Butch grew in their garden, creating everything from homemade sauerkraut and fresh salads to salsa, and sauces. Many will fondly remember Patty’s perfectly grilled steaks and her unforgettable crispy, delicious potatoes.
Patty was kind, generous, and always eager to help others. She often did things for people without a second thought for herself. She had a special way of making others feel genuinely loved and valued, a feeling that stayed with you long after being in her presence.
Patty also loved the Lord and was a woman of prayer. She often prayed for healing, guidance, and for the well-being of those she loved, drawing strength and comfort from her faith throughout her life.
Patty was the love of Butch’s life. He warmly invites all who knew her to join in celebrating her life, bringing your stories, memories, and the joy she shared with everyone around her.
