Patricia ‘Pat’ Gale Montgomery, age 80, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2024, at Cox South Hospital. Pat was born to John Kiener and Hazel Lambeth Kiener on February 23, 1943, in Springfield. She was raised in Glidewell, MO, and graduated from Willard High School in 1961. Shortly after high school she went to work at Ozarks Coca Cola Bottling Company. It was there that she met her husband Gary. Gary and Pat were united in marriage on June 8, 1962, in Springfield, MO. They were blessed with three children: Vicki, Gayla, and Jeffrey.
Pat continued to work at Ozarks Coca Cola Bottling Company until the birth of their first daughter, Vicki. After her arrival Pat was blessed to become a stay at home Mom. Three years later they welcomed Gayla to the family. Jeffrey was born 5 years later. Pat enjoyed being a stay at home Mom. She also loved to garden and sew. Several family and friends kept Pat busy sewing. She had the honor of sewing a wedding dress for her dear friend’s daughter. Pat also spent many hours every summer canning and freezing items from the garden. When Jeffrey started school Pat began a house cleaning service. She made many friends who she considered family over the years. Pat was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Pat was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Montgomery; parents, John and Hazel Kiener; bonus mom, Verma Wolf; sisters, Joyce Humes, Pam Van, and Donna Powell. She is survived by her husband, Gary of Strafford; daughter, Vicki and husband, Tom Tate of Strafford; daughter, Gayla McDowell of Springfield; grandsons, Kyle Tate and his fiancé, Maddie Baumer of Springfield, Zade Montgomery of Hepler, KS; and granddaughters, Kelsey Tate of Springfield and Zoee Montgomery of Helpler, KS; sister, Kaye Ball of Grove, OK; and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Pat will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at 1:00 pm, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North in Springfield. A funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation at 2:00 pm. Burial will be at Bellview Cemetery at a later date.
The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at Cox South 4th and 7th floor for the love and support given to Pat and her family during her stay.
