Paul David Willard, age 75, of Springfield went home to be with his Lord at 4:30 a.m. Thursday, February 11, 2021. He was born November 21, 1945 in Springfield, the son of George and Ida Willard.
Paul had a passion for civic responsibility and serving the Lord. He was a great example for his entire family and saw many people led to the Lord.
He spent his life loving, caring, and helping others. He especially had a passion for supporting the youth. Paul helped found the Lions Club Baseball Program, worked with the youth at his church, and was a proud supporter of Future Farmers of America. He encouraged many kids to try sports. He especially loved basketball, and you could probably find him in a gym if he wasn’t at church or with his family.
Paul was a consummate napper who was only just “resting his eyes.” He also had a strong passion for M&Ms and IBC root beer. He loved go-carts, Silver Dollar City, and spoiling his grandkids. He was a jokester that loved making others laugh, mostly so he himself could have a laugh.
Most importantly, he never tired of telling others about Jesus.
Paul leaves behind his loving wife of 58 years and faithful partner, June. Three daughters Angela LeBar and husband Jeff; Paula Turley and husband Ed, Amy Stinnett and husband Ival; six very special grandchildren: Elizabeth Turley, Chandler LeBar, Jeffrie Turley & wife Cheryl, Kendal Downey & husband Brendan, Katara Jones, and Kota Jones; a great grandchild due in August; and a host of family and friends.
Celebration of Life will be Saturday, February 13, 10:00 a.m. at Springhill Baptist Church, 7370 N. Farm Rd 159, Springfield. No visitation is planned but family will be available to visit for the celebration.
In lieu of flowers please send donations to the organization that provided the grant for his leukemia medication: Patient Services Inc, PO Box 5930, Midlothian, VA 23112.
