Paul Frederick Wohlfeil, age 87, passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2022. Paul was born in Saginaw, Michigan on August 28, 1934.
Biography of Paul F.Wohlfeil, Ph.D., Ed.D
Paul retired from Blue Care network over 26 years ago where he was director of Behavioral Medicine. This staff model Blue Cross HMO had about 86,000 members/patients (this was before HMO became and evil name). Prior to that he was in private practice preceded by employment as a psychologist in 5 different community health programs, 8 years of teaching various undergraduate courses in psychology and years of teaching graduate courses. He was also was employed at Whaley Home in Flint, Michigan as a psychologist and director of group living. He had also been consultant to 2 different General Motors plants (medical department) that employed over 10,000 each, General Electric medical department in Pittsfield Massachusetts and Volkswagen of America.
He was licensed in psychology, marriage and family therapy, professional counselor and clinical social work. He was a clinical member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, NCC and NBCC as a certified mental health counselor. He had trained under Dr. Albert Ellis in RET (New York, 1968) Dr. Carl Rogers (Plymouth, Michigan, 1977) Transactional Analysis, Reality Therapy, Primal Therapy, Acupressure, Implosive Therapy, and many other psychotherapy processes.
For the last 4 decades Paul lived part-time in Costa Rica where he consulted and developed educational graduate mental health programs and professional organizations.
Paul is survived by his sister Mary Griffore (Gladwin, Michigan) a son Paul J. Wohlfeil (Missy) and their two sons Ian Paul Wohlfeil (Fort Mitchell, Kentucky) and Cody Paul Wohlfeil of the home. As well as Paul’s daughter Ondria Rose Wohlfeil and her son Noah Jaden Richter.
A procession will leave Greenlawn Funeral Home in Branson at 9:00 am to take Paul to his final resting place at Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
