Pauline Johnson
Pauline W. Johnson, 98, Springfield, MO. was called home to God at 1:05 a.m. Wednesday morning August 31, 2011 in St. Johns Regional Medical Center.
Pauline was born November 4, 1912 in Violet Hill Arkansas. The daughter of Joseph and Mary Jeffie Campbell. She was united in marriage to Leonard W. Johnson September 24, 1932 and were together for seventy four years and eleven months. They lived in Mansfield for 17 years. He was an agent for the Frisco Railroad, while she worked as an operator for Bell Telephone. After retiring they moved to St. Louis where they oversaw the home of Ben Fixman. She graduated High School from Hardy, Arkansas where she excelled at basketball. She was also given lessons in public speaking. She is preceded in death by her husband Leonard, parents and five sisters, Virgie Taylor, Vesta Belk, Marie Campbell, Meddie Campbell and Vernene Hill. She is survived by two sons, Joe Campbell Johnson and wife Shirley of England, Arkansas. Michael Wayne Johnson of Springfield, MO. One daughter, Rita Ward Krizan and husband Frederick of Mt. Grove, MO. Eleven grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She loved to read, take flower arrangements to Church, play games, cook and visit with everyone she met. She was a devout Church of Christ member; having started Mansfield Church of Christ.
Graveside services will be Friday, September 2, 2011, 1:00 p.m. at Mansfield Cemetery in Mansfield, MO.
