Philip K. Daniels left this life October 22, 2026, with his wife, Celine by his side. He had struggled bravely for several years with chronic illness but remained active and engaged to the end. He leaves behind many good friends and wonderful memories.
Phil’s life journey started February 25, 1949, in Long Beach, California as the first child of Philip and Patricia Daniels. In the summer of 1982, he moved with his family to Joplin, Missouri. His new classmates at North Junior High were very intrigued by the tall, smart, athletic kid from Southern California.
Phil always carried a charisma that followed him at Joplin Senior High School, West Point, and his careers in the U.S. Army and business. He was talented as an athlete, engineer, chef, and loyal friend. He had a passion for serving people both through his commitment to local charities, and the culinary arts.
Phil served his country as an infantry officer in the U.S. Army. His business career spanned a range of executive positions including serving as president for Deep, a Martin Network agency, and general manager for Noble Communications. For the past twelve years Phil devoted himself to a charitable role, taking the annual Harvest Moon Festival from concept to highly successful execution. As its Culinary Director, he raised funds for charities benefiting children. It is a testament to Phil’s strength and commitment that he led this year’s event just six weeks ago, even in the face of his failing health.
The essence of Phil is what he meant to his friends. His big personality drew so many of us to him; it was almost like gravity. He had a gift for friendship and camaraderie.
Phil was truly blessed when a mutual friend introduced him to Celine. They were married October 2, 2015, and made a remarkable team entertaining friends and guests on countless occasions at their home in the country that Phil always called, “Chateau Celine”.
In addition to Celine, Phil leaves behind his son, Bryan Daniels, two brothers, and many devoted friends who will miss him dearly. Among his last words to one of those friends was, “I will see you on the other side. “That is our hope and faith, dear friend.
