Phillip Lee Schafer, 77, Norman, Oklahoma, died August 11, 2018, following a short hospitalization. He had been living in Norman and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma for several years.
He was born May 3, 1941, in Springfield, Missouri to Henry and Lucille Schafer. Phillip graduated from Central High School, attended Drury College, Purdue University and received his Doctor of Bio-Chemistry from the University of Oklahoma, Norman, Oklahoma. He became the Director of Bio-Chemistry at Baptist Hospital, Oklahoma City, and worked there for many years. He continued his work in the field for several years before an early retirement.
Phillip is survived by his daughter, Jennifer and her husband, Martin, two grandchildren, Samuel and Lucas Gonzales; a brother, Gary Schafer of Springfield, Missouri; and many other relatives and friends. Burial will be in Elm Springs Cemetery near Springfield, Missouri under the direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home North of Springfield, Missouri.
