Polly McDaniel was born in Carbondale Illinois to Fred and Pauline Ramsey. On August 29, 1946. She is preceded in death by her parents, and her ex- husband, Raymond Raredon. She is survived by daughter Spain of Springfield, daughter Tyla Raredon and son in law, Chris Reed of Carthage, MO, son Ramsey Raredon , granddaughter Skylar Raye Raredon of Arthur, West Virginia.
She is also survived by her beloved grand dogs, Cora, Rocket, and Dooley as well as grandcat, Smudge. Plus, a myriad of friends from all walks of life.
She attended U-School High, where most of her classmates were children of Southern Illinois University professors. She was homecoming queen, had an active social life in high school. She then attended SIUC Class of 1968, studying Art History as well as spending semesters learning Spanish in Mexico where she made lifelong friends.
She met her future husband, Ray Raredon in Biology class. They traveled around the country after college, camping from a van, selling art and crafts for a living. They both attended grad school until it was shutdown due to anti-Vietnam War riots.
Ray joined the Navy. Polly and he lived in Corpus Christi, Texas. They settled in Springfield, Mo to be closer to Ray’s mother, Vera. Polly had three kids with Ray; Spain, Tyla and Ramsey, all raised in Springfield. Polly lived in the same house for over 40 years and was lucky to have wonderful neighbors, Linda and Junior.
She retired from Springfield Police where she was an Office Administrator. Everyone knew “Polly”. She made many friends during her time there.
Through her life, Polly enjoyed canoeing, fishing, gardening, going back to Carbondale with Tyla to get peaches, research family history and visit old friends. She was a lover and protector of nature and animals. She was an armchair archeologist, with an interest in art, poetry, politics, and history. Polly was a blue fish in a red sea, a free spirit, she made people laugh and was a great listener. She was a free-thinker, unafraid to speak her mind.
Holidays and other celebrations were made very special with her wonderful food, panache for decorating, and fun personality.
She had over 30 years of sobriety, and was admired for her openness to share her story and help others.
Polly was a loyal cheerleader for those she loved and will be deeply missed by many.
A graveside service will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 3506 N. National Springfield, Missouri, on November 24, 2020 at 1:00 p.m.
Polly was a great admirer of Wild Heart Ranch. They rescue and rehab wild animals, everything from opossums to eagles.

I took care of Polly pre-operatively on the 4th floor during her last hospital stay and we bonded. Saw the election results come in on that Saturday and she said to me, “we’ll remember this day for the rest of our lives” and she was absolutely right. Sincerest condolences.
