R. Todd Morriss, age 78, of Springfield passed away Saturday, November 27th, 2021 at home.
Todd was born December 20, 1942 in Richardson, TX, the son of Robert and Martha Jane Morriss. Todd was a graduate of Richardson High School, he graduated from Austin College with a B.A. in History and from East Texas State University with a Master’s in Guidance and Counseling. Todd was united in marriage to Kathy Sue Browe on July 6, 1968, in Oklahoma City, OK. Todd worked for 28 years at Missouri State University retiring as Financial Aid Director. Todd and Kathy are members of Trinity Presbyterian, where he served as an elder, choir member and clerk of Session. Todd served on the board of the Regional Girls Shelter and was active with Presbyterian Disaster Assistance. He was inducted into the Missouri State Wall of Fame in 2007. Todd enjoyed photography, woodworking and tinkering (in pursuit of a better world).
Todd was dedicated to his family and serving others, from helping decades of students attend college, to furthering the mission of the Regional Girls Shelter, to rebuilding homes after a natural disaster.
Todd is survived by his loving wife Kathy ; two sons, Jason Robert Morriss and wife Sarah and Casey Patrick Morriss and wife Amy; four grandchildren, Rainen, Zoe, Josiah, and Aiden; one brother Patt Morriss and wife Karen; and a host of family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Martha Jane Morriss.
A celebration of Todd’s life will be at 10 am, Saturday, December 4. 2021 at Trinity Presbyterian Church,1900 E Barataria St, Springfield, MO 65804.
Memorial contributions may be made in Todd’s name to the Ashley House or Presbyterian Disaster Assistance. Services have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home South.
