Ralph Francis Looney,
son of Grace (Cripps)
and Waldo Ralph Looney
passed away with his fam
ily at his side at the the
Manor at Elfindale on
27 July 2011. Ralph was
born 26 March 1927 in
Springfield, where he lived
all his live. He attended
Campbell, Jarrett, and
Springfield High, gradu
ating in 1945. He enjoyed
playing in the band and
Boy Scouts.
Ralph went into the Marine Corps and was dis
charged in 1946. He then attended SMS and received
his degree in Business Administration at Drury Col
lege, finishing school at night while working. He mar
ried Evelyn Shane on 31 January 1948, and they had
63 years together until his death. Ralph and Evelyn
were blessed with two sons and four grandchildren.
Ralph had a long and successful career at Reyco
(Reynolds Manufacturing Company), starting in
1948 as a draftsman, rising to Vice President and
Treasurer in 1970, Executive Vice President in 1972,
and President in 1974. He belonged to the Solomon
Lodge #272 A.F. & A.M., and many professional or
ganizations, including the Truck Trailer Manufactur
ing Association, the Heavy Duty Business Forum,
the Chamber of Commerce (on the board in 1980),
among others.
Ralph is survived by his wife Evelyn, his sons Dr.
David J. Looney (wife Karla) and Stephen R. Loo
ney, Esq. (wife Paige), and his grandchildren Chris
tine Cawthra (husband Shannon), Jay Looney, Madi
son Looney, and Morgan Looney.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of
Greenlawn South, with visitation at 10:00 AM Sat
urday 30 July 2011, immediately followed by the fu
neral at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, please make a
donation to the Central Christian Church, the Ozark
Trails Council of the Boy Scouts of America, or other
worthy charity of your choice.
The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to
the staff at the Manor at Elfindale especially Mary
Jurgersmeyer RN, and also express their apprecia
tion to the staff of the Good Shepard Hospice for
their loving, compassionate care.
