Ralph Fred Burrell, Sr., age 76, of Springfield, Mo., passed away Thursday, May 5, 2011 in Cox Medical Center South. He was born March 3, 1935 in Millington, NJ., to Frederick and Norma (Crosby) Burrell.
He was a member of the Patriot Guard Riders, American Legion Post 639, and Combat Vets Motorcycle Association Charlie Company. He served in the United States Army 101st Airborne during the Korean War, where he made two night parachute jumps, earning him the Purple Heart.
Ralph retired from Danco in 2008.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Norma Burrell; son, Scott Burrell; one brother; and seven sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Burrell of the home; children, Ralph Burrell, Jr. of Springfield, Charles Burrell of Quincy, Ill., Chris Burrell of Joplin, Mo., and Rosanne Burrell of the state of Texas; two granchildren, Scott and Alicia; two great-grandchildren, Shelby Ann and Mary Jo; former wife, Blanch Burrell; and a host of friends and family.
Memorial services will be at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 10, 2011 in Greenlawn Funeral Home North, with inurnment at a later date.
