Ray W. Hillhouse, 90, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2011. Ray was a twin son of Willie and Chloe Hillhouse from Gainesville , Mo and has six other living brothers and sisters and one deceased younger brother. Ray is survived by a loving and devoted wife, Jean, and two sons: Jim Hillhouse (wife Pamela) of Plano , Tx and Roger Hillhouse (wife Christy) of Mountain Grove , Mo ; two grandchildren Justin Hillhouse (Audrey) and Heather Koval (Sean); three great grandchildren Emily Hillhouse, Colt Hillhouse and Abigal Koval.
Ray grew up on a farm near Gainesville and then joined the Civilian Conservation Corps before entering WWII military service in 1942. In 1947, Ray married Jean Mahan of Theodosia , Mo and they had two sons. He worked as a truck driver for Fadler Produce and then retired after 28 years with Jones Truck Lines of Springfield. Ray enjoyed gardening and “taking care of Jean”. As a WWII Veteran, Ray was privileged to participate in the most recent Ozarks Honor Flight to Washington DC with his twin brother Fray Hillhouse of Springfield.
Visitation with family and friends will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Monday, May, 30 at Greenlawn East Funeral Home at 3540 E. Seminole in Springfield , Mo. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, May 31 at Greenlawn Funeral Home East followed by burial at the Lutie Cemetery in Theodosia , Mo at 1:30 PM.
